He initially started his career as a sub-registrar but left the job to pursue his passion for acting. In 1949, he made his acting debut with the Telugu film "Mana Desam." However, it was his performance in the film "Patala Bhairavi" (1951) that made him a popular actor in the Telugu film industry.
